My son is 8 with all of those things and we homeschool and take him to therapy appointments, mainly psychology as he doesn’t have any issues with speech and in fact the issue is more self control with his speech. But yeah…. It’s tough because he pathologically lies, he will manipulate his brother and try to push the blame on to everyone and anyone but himself.. And I love my son, he has a lot of really great qualities that shine through but unfortunately so much time is spent on discipline and boundaries it’s really difficult. And a lot of the issues are things we can’t “ignore” so he does have anxiety as well. We are also planning on starting Intuniv which is a non stimulant medication that helps with the “hyper-arousal” symptoms such as anger, flight or fight… etc… Essentially my husband and I make sure our marriage and relationship is rock solid. We are not afraid to ask for help from friends or family for time away when we need it. And therapy, therapy, therapy.
@Janis the lying he does and I hate it. I know he be lying cause he does stuff that nobody would do and it’s only me him and his infant sister
@Niecey I would suggest finding a behavioral psychologist and taking him. The behavioral issues really do need constant therapy and higher level of support or else it becomes extremely problematic as a teenager and adult
I suggest looking at ADHD dude on YouTube. He has a lot of helpful videos regarding ADHD, including ADHD with ODD specifically in boys. He is a therapist who raised an ADHD son to adulthood. I’m ADHD (likely with some autism) and my son (6YO) was diagnosed ADHD, ODD, and some Autistic traits, so I’m in the thick of it.
I can't help with that, but I learned a ton ee adhd with this book with great practical examples. How Not to Murder Your ADHD Kid: Instead Learn How to Be Your Child's Own ADHD Coach https://amzn.eu/d/8Vyveig Hope that helps a little.
