@Samantha i have the uppa baby vista 2. I was thinking to borrow my friend's travel nuna stroller.
We have done an overnight red eye and the issue we had was baby waking before he needed to and not resettling and being overtired all day. The transition from a plane is tough. I find it easier to miss a nap if they don’t sleep well on the plane and then get a better nights rest. If you can time for an awake window boarding then the lull of the plane may help baby settle into a nap.
When booking to NY- I would also consider the airport. I find LGA to be easiest right now after the renovations and the current mess with Newark. Depending where in the city you are headed- I would consider that.
If you have a Doona, I would highly recommend traveling with it. AND purchasing an airplane seat for her so you have someplace to put the car seat and put her down as well. In terms of airline, I’ve liked flying JetBlue the most. The carseat actually fits in the seat (on American, I had to jam it in, which is very difficult to do if you’re alone.) I’ve never done an overnight flight, but I did drive overnight from NY to Boston (about 4 hours) and it was wayyy easier than doing it during the day. He slept the entire way and then we we got home we just transferred him to his bed. (But he was also about 6 months… so that may be different than at 9 months when they are so much more aware.)
