Protective styles help

My daughter has low porosity (literally repels water 🥲) hair, 3b/3c and has a lot of puffiness when dry, especially on her roots. Ive been looking at videos for hairstyles that last longer as her her gets so tangled everyday, from playing etc. I’ve tried twists and braids but maybe I’m not doing it correctly as it’s so hard to do and always looks untidy. Should the hair be wet when doing these styles? What product should I use as I find her leave in conditioner doesn’t help with these styles and makes it difficult for me to keep it smooth/tight!

My daughter's hair is like this. I wash her hair every two weeks and do two kinds of styles. We use Carol's Daughter Wash Day delight. I love how it keeps her hair moisturized without weighing down her curls. Protective styles are great but you have to let the hair rest in between. Also we use satin sheets and pillow cases to help and a bonnet at night that sometimes doesn't stay on. On the first week I do a braid out. After I wash her hair I section it and braid it with a braiding cream. I let it sit overnight (Sunday) and I take it out Tuesday morning. I put it losely in a pineapple on top of her head at night with a bonnet. If it needs to I refresh it with a refreshing spray in the morning. The second week I pick an easy protective style and style her hair. I section it and wet it till damp. I use edge gel on the parts and a jelly on her hair. You have to make sure you comb the product in. I can cornrow but she won't sit still long enough so I don't bother right now. I use a smoothing brush for her sides. I put a bonnet on at night and apple more edge gel in the morning if needed with an edge comb. By the end of the week it's a bit messy but still cute. I wash and repeat this cycle. Pics of her hair naturally and how you styled it? So we can see where we can guide u? Which products are u using? Routine?

twists are definitely easier when the hair is wet! maybe try adding a curl cream and gel
