tantrums in public

my little one tests my patience in public and trying to disipline her make it much more harder. she has the worst tantrums and if i put her in her pushchair she will scream HELP ME! and i get these stares from people and i feel really bad. she wanted an ice cream today at the park after i said no because she needed to finish her lunch ( which she didnt) she also is hitting and as a consequence i said she isn’t allowed ice cream . she refused to play like all the other children and ended up bringing her back home. shes making it really difficult and making my life so much harder

I'm sorry that you are dealing with your childs tantrums alone, I know how difficult that can be. How old is your child? I doubt that they'll be having tantrums to make your life 'more difficult'. Maybe try putting yourself in your childs shoes & look at the situation from their perspective. Where are you when these tantrums happen? Are they over/under stimulated? How long ago was their last meal/snack/drink? Are they hungry or thirsty? How long has it been since they last went to potty or, a nappy change? What is the weather like? Are they too hot or too cold? Are they tired? Is it coming up to nap or bed time? What could you do to change the situation? If say your child is a lot happier first thing in the morning, could you run your errands then & be home in time for lunch/nap time? Are your expectations too high for your childs development level?
