Depending where you live I’d call 111 nhs line get some advice

@Chloe why is it not normal?

I’d call 111 looks like Rib suckling. Meaning they’re finding it harder to breathe. Is he showing any signs of RSV or the cold etc?

@Shannon no he’s not at all

@Scarlett given his age if phone 111 for advice and phone GP tomorrow morning. Might be nothing but best to be safe x

Are his lips turning blue? Does his breathing sound clear? In this video it sounds good. I'll also say his chest looks good, there's no indrawing under his ribs, which would also indicate some sort of respiratory distress. But I'm not a doctor or anything, both my kids were super premature and both had premature lung disease so I'm very familiar with breathing issues in babies.

This video is too short. Can you upload a longer one?

@Roz I don’t :( but it’s only those noises he does it every now and then tho

@Roz why is it not normal???

See the doctor. Gives you abit of peace if mind knowing if Bubba okay or not x

@Scarlett it’s hard to tell from a 3 second video. It’s probably hiccups. If baby is drinking, making wet diapers, acting fine otherwise then it’s fine.

Looks like hiccups

that’s definitely not rib suckling. That’s not what rib suckling looks like. Like Jessica mentioned, it doesn’t indicate any respiratory distress. If it’s a noise he makes every now and then, mention it to GP/HV when you next see them. Try to book a GP appointment for tomorrow, or attend a HV drop in tomorrow for peace of mind because being a ftm to a 3 week old is extremely stressful! You’re still recovering from birth and trying to learn how to be a mum. The reassurance always helps. My little one is a toddler now and i still struggle and need regular reassurance. If it’s not something that’s suddenly started happening, and if baby is healthy, feeding normally, normal diapers, normal temp, etc then there is no emergency. I’ve personally always had negative experience with 111, in my experience they have always been wither dismissive, or telling me to go to A&E. Only for me to wait HOURS only to be told it’s nothing, and then my little one picking up some virus from A&E 🙃

I’d take him in to the doctor just to be sure. Sounds and looks like he’s struggling to breathe

But ofc not everyone’s experience with 111 is the same, so you could ring them if you wish. Based on the short clip you uploaded though, as I said - if little one is fine in themselves, feeding, alert, normal temp - basically if they’re completely fine and the only ‘different’ thing is this hiccup, you’re fine to wait for tomorrow for reassurance from GP/ANP/HV
