How do I stop my daughter from sucking her tumb

Hey mamas I need help and recommendations. my 2 year daughter keeps sucking her thumb and I have tried to stop her but to no avail. I have tried so many things like wearing mittens on her, rubbing aloe Vera on her tumb , using tape to tape her thumb, but she still finds a way to remove or lick it off and keep on sucking. Ineed her to stop sucking and I am worried her dentition will go bad or she will develop an open bite. please if anyone can recommend what has worked for them please write it down in the comments section

Put something that she doesn't like the taste of on her thumb.

Our dentist recommended mavala. It's a nail polish that tastes bitter.

So I don’t have any advice really because nothing we tried really helped either. She only did it at bedtime so every morning we would just tell her she shouldn’t do that because she can hurt her thumb and her teeth. At her next dentist appt, the dentist told her to stop so she doesn’t ruin her teeth and she finally listened. She stopped around 3.5 yrs.

@Rebecca that's amazing that she stopped. My daughter is almost 5 and still sucks her thumb. She was just at the dentist and they told her it's time to stop too. She does it at bedtime as well, or when she's really stressed. We bought the nail polish. Haven't had the heart to use it yet but I think we will have to soon. She's already got a couple loose teeth and I don't want her sucking her thumb when her adult teeth come in.

@Rachel is it a top coat which one please

@Rachel I am thankful for sure. For some reason she cares what the dentist says more than me 🤣

It does say 3+ so you might want to check with your doctor or dentist to make sure it's okay at her age.
