Dentist

Took my son to his check up today and since the last one he’s now got a cavity that they recommended putting a temporary filling on. I feel like a really shit mum now as it’s my job to keep his teeth clean and this has happened. I know it’s only one tooth but I can’t help but feel really bad about it. He doesn’t have much refined sugar at all. He only drinks water or milk but does eat a lot of fruit. I brush his teeth twice a day for him. Where am I going wrong?! 😭

My boy seems to be getting a cavity too. We have a dentist appointment next week and I'm dreading it. He only drinks milk and water and doesn't have that much sugar either. Like Ruth said I think it is just one of those things, but it's hard not to feel terrible about it though. I feel so bad for him as he's such a good boy at brushing his teeth 😭

@Ruth yes!! My mums had loads of problems and mine are pretty bad too - not from not brushing or flossing just seem to be quite weak and prone to issues.

@Steph I expected he’d get in the chair today and they’d tell him he had lovely teeth. He’s such a good boy with brushing too and he always talks about taking care of his teeth 😭😭😭

Can you get in touch with the HV for some of the high fluoride toothpaste? It's green. We have loads because we got to the children's centre and they have it and I told them it's the only one my son will tolerate so they gave me a shed load! 😂 I know it's not nice but you're doing everything right. You can also get disclosing tablets that shows where plaque is left when brushing but he might be a bit young for those yet, I use them now and then for my 6 year old x
