My baby burning up

My baby woke up congested and crying with red cheeks. Her temperature is 102.4 is this really high ? Do I need to call her pediatrician or is it emergency? 6 month old! I just gave her Tylenol. I don’t think my baby’s fever ever been this high 😭

My peds office doesn't consider a fever an emergency until it's 104. Keep doing temps every couple of hours and track her wet diapers and any changes in poop.

If the Tylenol doesn't bring her temperature down, I'd suggest using Infant Motrin - FDA approved starting at 6 mos. You can do lukewarm baths, too, but you don't want her to be so cold she shivers because that can raise her temp. Also, how are you measuring her temp?

@Finn the doctor didn’t even tell me about Motrin is it the same dosage of Tylenol ?! I know it’s good at 6 months but idk if the dosage is the same or what? I did rectal temp.

Make sure you don’t bundle her up. Give Tylenol and a luke warm bath. Make sure she’s eating her bottles good and having wet diapers. If her temp doesn’t go down and it’s still concerning to you, then take her in if you think it’s the right thing to do. If her breathing is fine, I would just stay home because they won’t do much more for her than what you can do by yourself
