Books?

So I’m currently 5 weeks and would like to start swatting up on how to be a parent and be good at it. Any recommendations for books?

"On becoming babywise" and "wonder weeks" were the two books that I kept referring back to the entire first year of my kids life.

The Baby Whisper. My absolute favorite book. Helped me so much and really made me felt so much more comfortable and confident as a first time parent. Secrets of the Baby Whisperer https://a.co/d/8ntFjJx

Not parenting but 1)What to expect when you're expecting. 2)the baby book 0-2 years by dr.sears Some id like to read are Emotional Regulation + Parenting "The Whole-Brain Child" by Daniel J. Siegel & Tina "Parenting from the Inside Out" by Daniel J. Siegel & Mary Hartzell "Raising Good Humans" by Hunter Clarke-Fields "Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids" by Dr. Laura Markham "How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk" by Adele Faber & Elaine Mazlish

@Sarah @Amanda @Anna thank you!! Will look these all up x

Any Sarah ockwell-smith gentle parenting book. There's gentle parenting, sleep, potty training, eating, discipline, second baby, calm toddler, calm baby The book you wish your parents had read Teaching kids good money habits Ella's kitchen book set What mummy makes book Yummy little bellies book, Instagram and tictok Big little feelings online course and Instagram How to talk to little kids/big kids etc listen Kelly Medina Enos, health visitor Ruth, the enchanted nanny are great tictok accounts.

I started with Adult children of emotionally unavailable parents, but that was because I was trying to heal myself before I continued unhealthy family patterns

@Devon @Kayla thank you both x

What to expect when You're expecting and what to expect 1st+2nd year are very helpful I've found. Raising good humans, and mama cusses are both good, but best read around 1 year plus, as before that you're in the newborn trenches but haven't really touched the bit where parenting can get reactive ie your kid saying no or doing something you told them not to while making eye contact, and while I had seen some advice it didn't make much sense on a personal level till I was in it really, but up to you. The oh crap potty training guide is a good one too, both to read in advance, and as a guide going through it.

The book you wish your parents had read

The Nurture Revolution by Greer Kirshenbaum
