I second the "solid starts" app, it's been great for us! Basically, we give LO whatever we're eating for dinner as long as it's fully cooked and there is no honey or salt - just cut to the appropriate size based on "solid starts" app. If you're more comfortable with purees, that's totally fine too! That's what we still do for daycare lunches. For puree ideas, you can just head to Walmart/Target/ect to check out the baby food pouches for ideas. I will often puree beans or legumes with vegetables for a hit of protein (she's a fan of white bean, pumpkin, apple). They can have seasoning/herbs too, as long as it's not salt. I made a chickpea/cauliflower/potato/pea puree with curry powder last week that baby loved
I started with teether wafers, yogurt melts, and scrambled eggs... now she eats what I eat (tonight we had tuna helper with chicken instead of tuna)
The first non-purée food our daughter started eating regularly was lentils- we gave her some lentil soup at a Nepalese restaurant and she loved it, so I made her a whole batch of it and since then have also mixed it with rice and avocado, which she likes too. It’s ok to include herbs and spices, just very little salt if any. Gagging is totally normal as part of them learning to eat but it is nerve-wracking!
I would start with scrambled eggs and/or avocado! My baby loves them both and they are great soft textures to transition them to solids. She still loves her purees but I have found those 2 foods to be the easiest for her to eat. I don't usually season them either, I keep most of her food pretty bland but also let her taste everything that we eat as well so she gets a nice variety of flavors
