Chromosome results

Hi all, I've done my 12 week scan today (currently 13weeks and 2 days pregnant) and got my chromosome results which weren't great. I'm 38, going to be 39 this year so I was not expecting great results but they're even worse than anticipated with the ratio being 1:33. I am not waiting for the results of the 2nd blood test who will show by 99% If the baby has got down syndrome or not. Any experiences or advice on what to expect would be really helpful

Hey. I had a very similar thing when I was pregnant with my daughter in 2021. We were given a 1/12 chance of DS due to my age, bloods and extremely high NT measurement. I think it was 5.5mm. Did they say what that measurement was? Anyway, we were offered a CVS which we decided to have because we wanted to know and had extra heart scans at 16 and 20 weeks. Have they offered you a CVS or amnio considering the high result? I’m assuming you’ve had the NIPT blood test? My daughter doesn’t have DS btw x

What is the NT measurement? Is that the mucus behind the baby's neck? That was absolutely fine they said. It was 1.9mm which they said was normal. They said its based on my age and 2 of my hormones being slightly low. Yes they offered CVS which i didn't take because I've had a miscarriage before and it sounds scary... waiting for the NIPT blood test now. Im so happy about your daughter, it really gives me hope that it might be ok 🙏

Yep, that’s it. Your numbers are well within the normal range so that’s great 👍 I understand about you not wanting to go ahead with the CVS due to the risks involved. I had the NIPT blood test with my son. I think I had a 1/240 chance of DS with him which is considered low but again I wanted confirmation that all was okay. I think I waited for about 10 days - 2 weeks for the result. Do let me know how you get on and wishing you all the best xx
