Nappy rash help

Has anyone been advised to use canesten cream for nappy rash and how long did it take to improve? The pharmacist said to use it 2-3 times a day for 2 weeks & wait 15mins before using a barrier cream but I’m getting so impatient as nothing seems to be helping ( only been using it for 2 days so far). It looks like Sudocreme is making it worse 😫

We use zinc and castor oil cream. Was given to me by my mother in law and it works wonders for us

Not canesten but a different brand. I’m 3 weeks in and it’s only just starting to see an improvement. We’ve been prescribed a different one to try for 6 weeks now

My little girl had horrific nappy rash we had steroid cream that didn’t work, turns out it was caused by a cows milk allergy and when she was put on the right milk it cleared with a week/2

@Lauren I’m sorry to read you’re struggling with it too but kind of glad I’m not the only one (please don’t take that the wrong way!) Did your GP think it was fungal or something else?

@Natalya that’s interesting, I wouldn’t think of a milk allergy. We’re 100% bottle feeding so maybe it’s the formula brand we’re using. How long did you try the steroid cream for before going back to your GP? (Assuming that’s where you got the steroid cream from)

At first yes but this time not 100% as it’s not cleared. They said they can’t give a stronger cream but will try a different one. They’ve also taken a swab to send off. However, we are also changing his milk due to possible cows milk allergy so not sure if that has a part to play. We’re now on aptamil pepti as of tomorrow x

I haven’t been advised to use canesten as I haven’t seen a GP yet. Just commenting as I also noticed sudocrem made things so much worse which I was surprised by as so many people swear by it. So far nothing has worked for her and she’s still bright red which is worrying. I wish there was an easy fix. Hopefully things improve for your baby soon!
