There are some toys which we tidy when we've finished playing with them. I just explain to my son that we need to have space to play other toys so we tidy together throughout the day to make room for the next thing.
He cleans up before he can play outside, cleans up before nap, and before bed . He’s typically really good at cleaning up on his own sometimes offering to help gets him moving if he’s not willing on his own
We clean up before nap and bedtime and then also anytime we leave the house. My daughter will also help
I only allow toys in the living room. I also keep the number of toys on the shelf low. The rest are put up for toy rotating. I try to keep things tidy through the day. But hubby does the official tidy while I'm putting baby down for the night.
@Anna how often do you rotate toys? How do you decide what gets rotated in or out?
The downstairs toys I pick up and place in the playpen every night and organize every Sunday night. The upstairs toys in her room (which we don't play with much anymore), we clean up every night before bedtime.
Before you start the bedtime routine get the kids involved in cleaning up toys they have out. If they’re old enough to be getting a bunch out, they’re old enough to be putting a bunch away. They may need some prompting and some help but eventually they’ll start putting things up on their own.
