@Miriam I had one 3 to 4 years ago and I am suffering with health anxiety and I knew it was time to get the Pap smear done I’m just so scared of the results. And my anxiety is taking over I can’t fully be there for my kids because I’m just thinking of the worse case scenario and leaving my kids…
Mine came back just fine if it's any help?
Can you understand where that anxiety comes from? Maybe if you understand that it’ll make it easier for you to shut off your brain about this and try to remind yourself to see it more neutral.
@Nora im just scared my mom has had cancer scared and she is fine nothing to worry about and since it’s so close to my appointment maybe that’s why I am scared
I understand why this makes you worry even though it’s probably unlikely. I’m not a Dr but here are my initial thoughts: Did you get vaccinated for it? If so chances are low you get it. Also if you truly have it I would assume it must’ve developed in the recent months and therefore would be highly early detected and well treatable. But I’m pretty sure you’re fine and that’s what you should also only have in mind. Try to remind yourself of this and talk about it out loud with people to take that fear that’s inside your head away.
Itll be okay, preventive care is the key to being healthy, if you’re not symptomatic you’re probs okay
@Nora what vaccination is it !! ??
@Nora is it HPV ? I had two doses 2014 and 2016 and it’s up to date !
Yes as far as I know. I can’t explain anything about immunization etc but it should definitely take some fear out of you knowing you have these shots already. :)
I had mine at like 3 months post partum. I think pretty routine. The provider was really nice and chatted with me about baby and making sure I was getting self care. It was a positive experience apart from the pap smear. It is a bit extra uncomfortable if you are breastfeeding cause you are pretty dry down there. Just a warning that it might be more uncomfortable than other pap smears if you've had them before.
