Ibuprofen and calpol

Daughter is 5 months. Shes teething and in pain. She had calpol around 8.30pm which helped for a little while. She’s crying again with her teeth and can’t have anymore calpol yet. Can she have ibuprofen now? Also using teething gel but not making much difference.

I'm sure it's every 4 hours for both paracetamol and ibuprofen I'd say yeah but you'll have to look into it a little more as I don't want to give the wrong advice x

@Lucy Sky thank you. I’ve had a quick look on nhs website and says if she has had calpol, she can have ibuprofen after an hour. Then I think it’s 4 hourly after that but either use one or the other. She’s settled again now don’t really want to use the ibuprofen too unless I really have to. May check with HV tomorrow or call the pharmacy and check x

Each one is four hourly however you can alternate them so she’s having one every two hours so she’s always covered by pain relief - eg paracetamol at 8:30, ibuprofen at 10:30, paracetamol at 12:30. We found ibuprofen worked much better for teething than paracetamol and teething gel. The most effective for our girl was Anbesol liquid, however I think it’s for 6 months plus (I could be wrong however - it’s been a while!)

@Bec thank you this is really helpful x
