ADHD meds

Has anyone experienced this, did it get better or worse? This post is going to be all over the place but hope someone can relate. I’ve been waiting for 7 years to be diagnosed with adhd, from 13-20. Finally got seen to and put on adhd meds (xaggitin xl) I’ve been on it for one day, can not sleep, so agitated, body and jaw so tense, heart rate of 142, on and off shaking, etc… I’m not sure if this is normal? I’ve looked at the side affects and pretty much got 90% of them. I’ve also been diagnosed with bpd which I’m on quetiapine for. My chest feels extremely tight and I can not breathe properly. I’ve also got a very dry mouth which I’m drinking excessive water unintentionally, about 1 litre in 30 mins. I feel so sick, and I’m also getting stabbing pains in my stomach. I’m not sure whether to stay on the meds to see if it gets better, or come off them. It’s also the weekend so I can not speak to anyone for advice. Also don’t want to sit in a&e for 10hours lol

Go back to your doctor immediately. You're on either too high a dosage or the wrong medication, at least for ADHD. I can't say for the BPD. But I would stop taking the ADHD medicine until you talk to your doctor.

Stop your medication (I'm a specialist ADHD prescriber). The side effects sound intolerable and pulse level dangerous. Don't be disheartened, it may just not be the medication for you, or as above stated you may have been started on too high of a dose, however due to your response it is unlikely you would achieve a therapeutic response with that medication without those side effects. Xaggitin XL is just one type of methylphenidate based medication, not everyone experiences the same side effects to all the different release profiles/brands, so your prescriber may want to explore a different type within the same methylphenidate family, or may want to switch to amphetamine based. Stop your ADHD medication for now, and make contact with your clinician for an urgent review. The titration process can be trial and error, don't lose hope, but stay safe x
