Household chores & newborn

So I used to have a routine of cleaning and keeping the house in a nice clean state and obviously that has all changed since having our second boy. I’ve had enough of the place looking like shambles, our youngest is proving to be a little pickle with naps atm so it’s been hard to get stuff done. How are you ladies finding the time to get stuff done as I know it can be a tricky😅🥴

Does your eldest attend nursery? I'm thinking if he does make the effort when he's being looked after and with baby no2 he'll be ok in the cot for a little while..... Or .... Ask hubby to take baby1 for a walk while you can crack on and focus on what's best to clean that day or however you work best... Failing this get a cleaner ... but remember you've just had baby and still in that baby bubble to do cut some pressure of yourself also ❤️

@Elle (i can't see waves) he does and yeah I mainly try and get everything done then. But little one is getting really fussy and unsettled and I feel it takes all the time I have free to get stuff done but I can’t as I’m trying to sort him out. I’m just trying to find a balance somewhere and at the moment I’ve not quite perfected it aha. It’s more the weekends where we’ve planned things and gone out but we’re still hit with the carnage at home when we get back and then dinner and bedtimes roll past and it’s still carnage🥴 I think I’m putting too much pressure on myself but at the same time I hate seeing what I’m seeing around the place😅

My son is 2 and is at nursery Mon-Wed so just me with my 6 week old at home whilst husband is at work. I usually use those days to get stuff done whilst baby girl is asleep. We did have a cleaner but got rid as it is so bloody hard to find someone who cleans properly ! Failing that sometimes I find I’m far more productive late at night so I’ll do stuff when my son is in bed and we’ve had dinner. Remember to be kind to yourself you’ve just had a baby and no one is expecting you to be on top of everything all the time. 💛 This is baby no2 for us and I’m still finding my feet again 😂

Hmmm perhaps you could wear baby around the house in a sling and do the minium- just to make yourself feel a bit better about the place ..... I feel your pain we loved home Xmas 2023.... had baby early jan and we had boxes everywhere and no sofa for weeks 🤣🤣🤣 So we spent most of the time in the bedroom it was horrible start to the year lol It does get easier thou! X

@Emma yeah I definitely think im getting far too ahead of myself and expecting too much from myself. I just think because im doing the night feeds as other half is working I think when it gets to bedtime I cba to clear up so its a vicious circle of mess 🤣 But I will get there💪🏼

@Elle (i can't see waves) oh bless you! Yeah I can only begin to imagine how that was for you! And yeah I think I’ll have to use the sling a bit more just to make it a bit more easier x

Babywearing helps a lot. And I prefer other carriers to slings for trying to do housework, but really just relax your standards for now. You are still newly postpartum and caring for a baby and healing is still a lot of work…… and honestly I can’t figure out how to keep my house clean with a 1 year old and 3 year old unless I am never home. (Though both are home all the time)
