I think when they’re are young they need to be seen by a paediatrician to make sure any delays that the child might be having is not caused by anything else so they do a check over make sure nothing else is underlying at least this is what I was told
Yeah, the pediatrician will asses for developmental delays and will suggest Early intervention if needed or supplementf to support health! You got this momma! Trust your gut!
@Shannon okay I had call from my health care Vistor and she told me the patch meeting went well and my daughter has been refferd to a paediatrician and put on the wating list for autism assgment. I carnt see any confirmation about the fact my daughter has been put on the wating list for autism assgment but been told she’s been put on wating list she’s 3 and half so she’s not that young x
Current waiting list for a paediatrician referral is 2 years, once they see the paediatrician if 2 other medical professionals (HV and S&L for example) they will confirm the autism diagnosis, I am 21 months into waiting…
@Kirsten what’s a S and L ? We have been given a paediatrician appointment already for June 9th and we’ve already had the health care Vistor to come visit us and the health care Vistor has refferd us to speech and language and portage and I also have a portage appoitment at end of the month to discuss my daughter and her needs and what help she requires my daughter is 3 and half so close to school age that might be why we are getting seen faster xx
Oh that’s good! i guess it depends on the area, im in Chesterfield. Speech and language therapist (S&L)
@Kirsten I am in Basinstoke (Hampshire) 🥰 okay thats good the health care Vistor has refferd my daughter to speech and langue and portage xx
Yes, in Massachusetts where I live not sure for your state. They will send you a letter about being in a waiting list then when available will call or schedule the appt. Some places take a while. It took close to 6-8 months for my daughter to get tested. Hope this helps
