I bathe my baby that has keratosis pilaris on his shoulders and thighs. It's a type of excema sorta. And it's made a world of difference. He stays clean cuz I still hit him woth the wipes and stuff all over as he gets dirty. But has your baby tried any new foods in the last month or since this started happening? Has baby had a cold or been even slightly sick cuz ME and My son both break out and get red or dry skin when we are sick or are exposed to something we are even mildly agitated too.
@Jess I'm so happy to see someone else even in a comment not giving daily baths. I've gotten sooooo much heat for that
Every other day. She has tired Eucrein but made it worse I think it’s because of the Oats as the main ingredient of relief
@Jess My fiancé uses that cream for his eczema and I used it on my girls lower area due to eczema and it worked wonders but it is prescribed to him
I will ask her pediatrician about that prescription. Is it a steroid?
The one thing that’s worked on my toddler is La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+ Triple Repair Moisturizing Cream, I’ve had to change our detergent to Ecos hypoallergenic scent free detergent and we’ve stopped wearing any perfume or scented stuff because when they’re on you and that stuff rubs on them it can make their ezcema worse. I also changed her bedding to sold and cotton because not natural and rougher material can impact it. Last, I bought these sleeves with mittens on it to keep my daughter from scratching her face while sleeping. We also cut her nails ever couple days as soon as it starts to grow out to keep them from being too sharp and long to do too much damage. The dermatologist also told us to make sure we pay her dry instead of rubbing her dry because that can also exacerbate and spread the eczema. Hope some of these tips works!
My mum has recently told me to try aloe Vera gel on my boy She said the eczema creams ruined my brothers skin. Haven't tried it yet but might be worth a go
Also try Dr. Bronners Baby soap it's completely natural and I swear you will never feel cleaner
@Sam I used to give her one everyday even if I didn’t use soap just to try to keep her in a routine. And it really dried her skin out regardless of how much lotion I would put on her
@Esther have you tried hydrocortisone cream as well? I know that was a recommendation from my pediatrician as something over the counter
I’ve dealt with this with all of my kids. Three of them have eczema, and one had it so bad it turned into psoriasis—spreading from the scalp all the way down to the face, chest, and back. If hydrocortisone alone isn’t working, try mixing it with Lotrimin and applying it twice a day. Only use it for seven days or less, or until it clears—whichever comes first. Thank me later, Sis, I promise it works. They gave me that mix with my first daughter after we tried everything under the sun. So by the time my second and third came along, I already knew what to do.
@Mona I absolutely noticed the rough materials make it worse. I do have her sleeping in the Carter’s purely soft brand. Or anything bamboo. And long sleeve with mittens I shall pay more attention for those while buying. I cut her nails daily but she sometimes finds away. I will try that La Roche Posay out I hear it’s a great brand for adults. Now it’s hard when I have family hold her or babysit and they have crazy amounts of fragrance on which I have noticed makes it worse. I try not to be rude but people don’t really care for our little ones skin.
Ps Lotrimin is mainly for athlete’s foot, but it can actually help with eczema too—especially if there’s a little yeast or fungal infection mixed in. That can happen even on the face, especially with babies since their skin is so sensitive. If regular hydrocortisone isn’t doing much, some doctors recommend mixing a tiny bit of Lotrimin with it and applying it lightly. The hydrocortisone helps with the inflammation, and the Lotrimin fights any fungal stuff that might be making it worse. Just be super gentle and don’t use it for more than a few days unless your pediatrician says it’s okay. It helped a lot with my baby.
I no longer have the hydrocortisone once I noticed it was turning her sick color I throw it away. It’s too strong being a steroid that wasn’t helping. Causing more skin thinning.

Gp prescribes cetraben ointment and then hydrocortisone cream for my LO but what actually worked is bepanthen nappy cream. It cleared it in two days. I also only bathe her every 3/5 days and that helped too
@Alexandra I see different variations of the cream which one did you use
I use the tubby Todd washes and lotion for my little one. I think one of their creams does have oats though, so if you consider it look out for that. But also do you use a filtration system for your babies bath? We have a lot of chlorine in our which effects my LOs skin so we now use a filter for her baths which helps and I use breast milk in almost every bath we do.
Thanks I didn’t think of the filtration system. Definitely need to work on that
Have you tried the natural oils and butters? Bathing with coconut oil and olive oil in the water no soaps Creaming with shae butter mixed with coconut oil twice a day? Try combinations of the naturals Coco butter, shae butter and coconut oil is a great combination Aloe Vera coconut oil and olive oil in the bath will work wonders. You're doing right by keeping away from dairy and oat try to avoid wheats and see if that helps too check laundry detergent also
My first son was the same it’s was really bad took him to the doctors it’s was the bad decision I made as they gave him strong steroids cream that burned him so badly. I had to throw away the creams he was given and I did a research myself about eczema on babies. I had to change the washing powder to non bio, changed his bathing soap to Aveeno and the lotion stopped dressing him in woolly clothes. Don’t use baby Jonson products it’s a bad brand should be burned from the shops really it’s not good for the delicate skin. And this doctors don’t prescribe good creams really that’s are natural and gentle on skin.
Bioskin Junior Outbreak Rescue Cream this has really helped my daughter
Tubby Todd all over ointment, clears up in 3 days! I use everyday for my baby
Have you tried changing the chemical products in your life? Some, especially conservatives can be important triggers. You could try some cosmetics and clothes (all fabrics!) shampoos without fragrance, parabens, isotiazolinone, metilisotiazolinone for starters. We changed those and washed everything again and a problem that had lasted for months just magically ended :) and many ecological products are free of these ingredients!💚
I make homemade Body Butters, I’m in the Houston area, With Kokum butter & Mango Butter
Tubby Todd also worked for mine.
My 6 month old has really bad eczema all over her. We've been using steroid cream and anti fungal cream for almost 2 months and only now is it making a difference. My daughter also itches really badly so we were given some antihistamines for the itching. I also use aveeno to wash and moisturise her 3 times a day....
Epsom salt in bath! Basically takes it right away. The face is a little hard bc it’s not able to soak of course so just keep dipping wash cloth in the water and pat onto face and cheeks.
How often are you bathing her? I got a prescription for triamcilone (totally didn’t spell that right) and that along with the red eucerin lotion (eczema relief). I give my daughter a bath every 3/4 days now and that seems to really be helping her.
