It depends on state, hospital, even whether or not you have a criminal record is a factor. I asked (13 yrs ago before it was legal here) when they took his first diaper and they didn't test it because I didn't have a criminal record. I shit you not, it varies absolutely everywhere.
I was honest even with Psilocybin use. They didn’t do anything.
But like Tiffany said it depends on the state
Same as @Redss
Yes and i was honest. They still tried to deny me breastfeeding and i had a drs supervision my whole pregnancy! They called CPS on me too but everything turned out fine
Yes my doctors knew the whole time I had no issues at birth they will call child and family services if the baby tests positive after birth but they also may not look for it if it's not mentioned
Depending on your state it may not be allowed like in New York you have to consent I was 100%honest with my ob and the hospital
Don’t they test the meconium? That’s what I’ve heard from other mamas. Substances stay detectable in that for pretty long I think.
I smoked my whole pregnancy. Told my OB that I stopped when I found out I was pregnant. Declined being tested and it was never brought up again. Went to my induction in December of last year, high. They never tested me and they never tested baby. I live in Detroit and had my OB care and baby at Henry Ford Hospital Detroit location. It depends on your state and their laws around weed. California will definitely test you even though it’s legal there. Michigan, depends on the hospital. Trinity hospitals will definitely test you, Henry Ford will not. If they do test and you both come back positive, it is a chance that CPS will be involved but those cases close pretty quickly because they don’t care about weed, they care about that hard shit. You can also anomalously call your hospital and ask what testing they do upon birth. They have to tell you because “law”.
@De'zha yep. I'm in Michigan and stjoes said they'd test IF I had criminal history, Henry Ford tested I think during my pregnancy but not after birth (but I also didn't test positive when they started urine tests at 20+) weeks? So it varies on the hospital too!
I smoked the whole pregnancy for the nausea and obviously baby was positive and cps came and saw everything was fine and closed the case.
@Elle same with me in SC
@Ray I’m really hoping they don’t look into it. I’m really worried about them opening up a cps case
@Adriana I THINK they have to have a reason to test it but idk ☹️ I also read that it says in there for months

@De'zha this was so helpful. Thank you!!
I smoked the whole time and was honest about it with my OB. They tested both of us at delivery. We both came back positive. He was healthy with no complications . Nothing happened. No CPS was called and I don’t live in a state where it’s legal.
