I think its normal for them, some days my lg is OK and others like wrestling a crocodile. my lg like rough play so i have started to wrap her in a large towel ( restrain her) bush her teeth and then flip her out, she loves it gets the job done, I'm nor sure how long I'll gwt away with it though.
I just can't seem to figure out how to restrain him in a way that also frees up my hands to try and pry his mouth open to brush them. This evening the best I have managed is to get him on his back on the floor giggling and then sneaking a the brush across his front teeth for like 1 or 2 brushes. That was after about 5 run throughs of blippi, me brushing my teeth sitting on the floor with him and being silly followed by you can have 1 sticker for 1 brush which equaled zero stickers or brushes 🤦♀️
We have to do what lucy says above. He screams and kicks and it's the most traumatic parts of our day lol. We have ordered some mouth rests to keep his mouth open as we've been using a bigger toothbrush but he's just biting through it now
Lay him between your legs and pin his arms with your thighs. It's not the most fun thing to do but teeth are important and they'll thank us 1 day
@Emma yeah I agree, it’s not fun but needs must! 🤦♀️😆
It's so hard lol 😆 I noticed my sons teeth were badly needing brushed. There's an episode on hey duggie where this lion has a repungent breath and never brushes his teeth. The squirrels ask him if he's not worried about losing his teeth. I've had this episode on and discuss this with my son and ask him if he wants to keep his teeth (when he's being difficult about brushing them) and ask if I can super duper gently brush his teeth. He has his last molar coming in so I know his gums are a bit sensitive. Honestly though, you're doing great even if you're managing to brush his teeth a good few times a week. You're not failing him. You're doing amazing .❤️
type of brush do you have,? maybe little leccy one may be better if you dont already have one.
Was also going to mention I let my son choose his tooth brushes. He's actually got 3 on the go lol. One lights up, one is small and not too long and the other is a dinosaur.
We count to him in a fun voice, then tell him it’s his turn and I count for him. It’s worked the past week. I’m sure he will be over it soon and I’ll have to come up with another song or something lol
It’s so stupid but with my little boy we tell him we can see different things in his teeth. Like he loves Raa Raa the lion so we say we can see Raa Raa or the other characters and he loves Nightmare Before Christmas so we say we’re brushing out Jack and Sally. It’s working for the moment and keeps him distracted and laughing but yeah we went through a solid probably year of having to pin him down and just brush them because it was literally like he was being tortured so I completely feel for you. I have horrible teeth partly from not brushing when I was little and partly from being accidentally headbutted by my 3 year old and three chipped front teeth so yeah I’m right there with you not wanting the same for my kids x
@Emma thank you. I honestly had struggled to think how to pin him in a safe but effective way and heard people say like Lucy about head between legs but couldn't work out how that worked exactly lol but that makes more sense on how to do it now. I use to have to restrain him for a dirty nappy too because he'd kick and scream and wiggle it everywhere and now he happily lays down and puts his legs up so I've no doubt as not fun as it will be he will get over it
@Emma he has 3. 1 adult sized on because he sometimes wants to steal mine, 1 aquafresh 0-3 with a little suction bit at the bottom too which he loves sticking to things and a 3rd short stubby one which was his favourite and I can't find a replacement for because can't remember the brand
We have a curved one, it's has 3 sides so it cleans all sides of the teeth at the same time
I have to place my little boys head between my legs, with his arms underneath my legs. I brush them upside down. He’s been a nightmare with brushing his teeth from the start, but I seen a dentist recommend this and it’s the best way to brush them, as he hates it so much 😭 🤦♀️ I only manage a minute of brushing, but no cavities yet and he loves his chocolate. So I’m assuming it’s doing the trick xx
