UC

Hey girls I wonder if anyone can help me… I’m due to go onto maternity soon and I want to apply for UC to see if I can get anything while extra help.. just want some help with the claim itself - asking questions about who I pay the rent to? My husband is the serving person not me so as far as I am aware it comes straight out of his wages! Idk if I’m being dumb as F but I NEED help 🤣🤣🤣

I don't think you will get anything . We applied for UC last year as I wasn't working and they said due to my husbands income we couldn't get any help . But I suppose everyone's situation is different.

@Anna when doing the calculator online it will allow me a small amount so I just want to see if I can get anything, just trying every option I have haha!

Yea it said the same for us also 😔 I think it said something like £100 but then when we put the claim in and went to the job centre we got told we could get £0 😆

Also when it asked about rent ( I can't remember the choices) we put private down I think and when we went for the appointment she changed it to something else . They basically go through the answers you put etc then she submitted it .

We get extra help. As you’ll be claiming as a couple you both have to apply. We had to go for a meeting at the job centre to prove what we paid for housing, they help with that. I think we put private housing on the application and then the job centre person changed it all when we went in for the appointment

@Lucie yeah we’ve both done the stuff on our to do lists haha, he’s got a call booked in and I have to go to the actual Jobcentre! :)
