@quira do you bath your little one every night then? My HV told me not to 🤦🏼♀️ I think mine would definitely benefit from a routine just need to work out what the routine looks like. Think it’ll be hard to stick to at weekends when there’s more going on too! Any advice on how you manage that?
@Becky i do - but he doesn’t get a “proper” bath every night, he gets a full body wash, hair wash etc 3 days a week. the rest is just a play in the bath for about 10-15 minutes because it really helps unwind him, relaxes him & helps him know it’s time for bed & to start winding down. my advice would be try work the times around you - i bath him between 6-6.30pm, boob & then bed by 7.30pm, absolutely sparko. i then have time to cook prior to my partner coming home - but most of the time i cook things that i can just shove in the oven or cook extras like pasta etc if we’re having spag bowl. so i still always have time to cook us tea no matter what. then as he gets older it can roughly stay the same, tea will just be earlier when he starts weaning! try keep everything relatively the same each time, so they can associate certain things with bedtime if that makes sense?
We had a rough routine since he was around 4/5 weeks but pretty much set in a routine now. We don’t bath every night but on bath nights that’s part of the routine. Usually bath 3 times a week, so the same with my 2 year old! X
We have a rough routine of bottle around 7/7:30 pm then bath after that, little one will then fall asleep between 8pm and 9pm, we then have some what of an evening together and come up to bed around 11pm and do a dream feed. She’s 11 weeks and 3 days and we’ve been doing this since around 8 weeks x
Most of time ours is bottle book bed. We also accidentally got a routine where she knows it bedtime when she goes in her sleeping bag and sleeps through the night from 830 till around 530. During the day I’ve no such luck
i started routine from around 6 weeks old, but it was very weak routine. just started off as bath then bed. then when he got to 10 weeks, it was play, bath & bed. the minute he hit 11 weeks, it was a semi-strict routine as that’s just what my baby likes & works best for him. but they say a routine doesn’t matter that much until they’re 3 months old - it depends on your baby!
