I accepted my current job when I had literally just found out I was pregnant (after miscarriage and a long period of TTC). I lost out on mat pay by moving (had to be employed by them for 1yr to qualify), but it was better for my career in the long-term. I told the hiring manager before I started as I wanted to be upfront with him, and he was so nice about it. He congratulated me straight away and made sure I had things in place to help me for the few months I was working before going on mat leave. If you're right for the job, they will want to know they've got you in the role even with mat leave in between. Good luck with the application, and don't feel guilty. If you feel comfortable sharing the news with them before you start then that can be quite helpful in setting up a good relationship - and is also a good test of their culture depending on how they respond!
@Wajeeha did you tell them before they offered you the job or after?
I had already accepted the job and was going through my pre-employment checks when I fell pregnant. So I told them after accepting and it was fine 😊
I started my job last month and got pregnant last month. I didn’t know at the time I was when I got it. But I would have still applied even if I had, I need the money more now. I just hope it’s not too awkward when I tell them haha!
