My take on happiness

Yesterday, I celebrated another Mother’s Day as a single mother (I've been single since day one). I took my mom and myself out to eat, and then we spent the afternoon with family playing bingo. On our way back home, I told my mom that I had a fun day, and she said she enjoyed it as well. I felt content in that moment. That's when I realized that happiness is a choice we have to make every day. Being happy doesn’t depend on money, a romantic partner, or even family. I didn’t receive an expensive gift, nor did I have a man do something nice for me, yet I still had a fabulous day because I'm healthy, my loved ones are healthy, my son is thriving, and I got to spend my day with my favorite people. To my fellow single moms who might feel down on Mother’s Day because they are single: ask yourself, are my children happy and thriving? If the answer is yes, then give yourself a hug and embrace your happiness as well; you are doing an amazing job!

100%! Sometimes it’s best for your own peace to just let the petty stuff go and find a way to be content with your current circumstances. Rise above it all and prioritize your own peace and happiness. My happiness yesterday was the moments I sat staring at my boy and he stared back at me, gabbing away and smiling back at me. That was pure happiness to me.

@Jessica That's exactly right! Happiness is about seeing the positive in your situation.
