Should I stop breastfeeding if baby has reflux

I ended up taking her to A&E yesterday (she’s one month) and the doctor said she has reflux and prescribed gaviscon. Anyway, I’m so stressed. My let down is fast, it’s hard to breastfeed and I’m worried it’s something in my diet. Is it better to move to formula and just try and fix the problem then? I really don’t know what to do but she’s so unhappy and it’s horrible.

Honestly, I have inverted nipples but I was breastfeeding by pumping, my baby was always getting sick with my milk, so I’m giving her formula cow and gate colic and constipation.

@Julia has it been better since giving the formula?

100%, I wasn’t eating well, also coffee apparently gives the baby colic and acid reflux and I’m not in the mood to give up coffee 😂

If you don’t enjoy breastfeeding or think your little one would be better on formula then go for it but for some perspective from the other side my little boy has struggled massively on formula been on 8 different ones and it’s starting to look like we might need to switch again, I regret not breastfeeding him and feel like he wouldn’t have a lot of the problems he has if i did but obviously every baby’s different and you know your baby best x

My baby has horrible reflux and she couldn't take any other formula then Similac advance she's better on breast milk but I couldn't make enough so I had to stop

There are things you can do to help with your let down such as feeding laid back or lying down helped slow mine. Maybe see if your hospital or breastfeeding peer support groups has access to a lactation consultant. Or have a look at Olivia lactation consultant on instagram, she has really informative posts about reflux and breastfeeding. Good luck with whatever you decide to do! Happy mum is best for baby either way 🤍✨

99% of the time, baby will be better on breast milk for things like reflux and colic

I wasn't able to breastfeed but I'd definately try and hold lil one upright more when feeding. My baby spit up so much milk til he was about 5 months old
