@Sam yeah doorbell is fine she sleeps through that no issues, its the thumping on the door which literally echoes around the whole house that's the issue. We have a ring bell so even of I didn't hear the bell i get a notification anyway so don't see why they all feel the need to thump the door to no end immediately after ringing the bell, its happened 3 times today alone (one of the deliveries wasn't even ours 😖). It's a good point about not advertising baby living here, we live on a dead end street down a long driveway so only someone coming to the door would see the sign
Why not put a sign just saying please don’t knock the door just ring the doorbell? I know what you’re saying but I agree unfortunately it’s their job
Whilst baby is small could you get things delivered to a locker? I know it defeats the point of delivery but would avoid the situation whilst baby is small?
@Jess yeah I guess I just thought stating the reason why they might be more likely not to ignore it! Just don't see why it's necessary to ring a bell and then immediately bang like they're breaking the door down it did my head in pre baby
https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1166724504/?ref=share_ios_native_control I got this which they pay attention to 80% of the time. It was driving me mad, the banging and rattling the letterbox. My first would sleep through but it would wake me up on the rare occasion I managed a day time nap.
I’d maybe just put a sign up saying not to bang the door or if you get a safe space for them to put post. I put a sign up telling them to put it in my shed. It’s a back garden we use for anyone coming in as front one is on main road so only ever letters put through that side. We have a high fence so not like anyone can see the sign unless you’re actually in the garden. If you w got a ring doorbell, you’ll get the notification someone’s outside anyways even if it’s not pressed so you’ll be aware and can go get it x
My god yes. I even put in the notes to just lightly knock. The dog barks then the baby’s back awake! They knock on the door like it’s the police trying to ram raid, I honestly thought the other day someone was trying to get into my house he knocked that loud. Frightened the life out of me
@Nicole yes!! Absolutely crazy and unnecessary to knock as loud as they do.
I understand they have to do it but the ones at mine take it too far. They ring, knock and then ring again immediately. I haven't even had a chance to stand up. Haha.
I understand your frustration but unfortunately it’s their job to inform you of the delivery. In my opinion it’s good for baby to get used to the doorbell noise but appreciate banging is not welcome as can frighten baby (and maybe adults!). Also from a pessimistic side I wouldn’t advertise about there being a young baby inside might be opportunists about.. absolutely not saying this about delivery drivers(!) but general passers by perhaps 🤷🏼♀️
