Wigan hospital meals

Hi all I’m 36 weeks and soon to give birth to our second little boy. My first was a section and was literally in and out from 4:44pm Tuesday and then was home 11am the next day!! 🫢 so I didn’t eat when there. Having a VBAC this time 🤞🏼 Just wondering if anyone can tell me what the meal situation is when staying? Do they give you a menu? A card for ordering? I HATE hospital food. Probably not something I should be worrying about but I’m tempted just to bring my own. Thanks x

I got induced at Wigan hospital they come round but I had to go outside the ward and there was a trolly with jacket potatoes and pies I don’t like hospital food neither so I didn’t eat it ha I just made sure I brought lots of snacks instead although I never got chance to eat them my birth was only 44 mins it happened so quickly ha xx

When I was in they brought a station round and you could pick off the station what you wanted there was some packed sandwiches and some hot meals

@Nicolaso they were okay with you bringing food in? I plan on bringing in lots of snacks and drinks too! Xx

I mainly had jacket potatoes or sandwiches off the trolley outside. The food was nicer than it has been in the past! X

To be honest, for a hospital I thought the meals were quite decent last year when I was there for my c-section... it could have been the hunger, as I didn't eat from the night before and had my baby in the early afternoon 🤣

@Caren yeah I just packed it in my bag ha xx

Just to add there's a cafe onsite too so could always send your birth partner there if you're not happy with the options offered on the ward :)

I work at Wigan and food Isn’t too bad, sorry to jump On your post Iam also 36 Weeks Just wondering about visiting hours on maternity ward. Do they have to leave at Night? X

@Jodie visiting hours aren't so bad, it is 9.30 am to 9.30 pm. However only 1 person can be there in the morning, more visitors only after 2 pm 🥰
