Induction

39 weeks on Monday, being induced at 38+6 (tomorrow!!) pretty scared as I only found out recently, and is due to high blood pressure. I am quite an anxious person, had a sweep yesterday and was told the cervix is soft but still very high up so not dilated yet which I know is normal for a first timer. Wondering if anyone had any positive indiction stories, especially if you had one pre-term! Or anything you found useful to help relax during induction as I have been told it can take a long while and I absolutely hate hospitals!!

I had an induction at 39 weeks took 3 days and all the methods but i had a successful vaginal birth.. my advice would be relax as much as you can and make the most of being looked after in hospital. Try to think that at the end of your stay you’ll take home a gorgeous baby xx

@Sarah thankyou! I am trying to look at it that way. Did you have the pessary and balloon then? I am hoping they allow me to take a longer approach rather than breaking my waters is my cervix isn’t completely favourable. Hope that you and baby are doing well! X

I started with the balloon then 2 x pessary.. it helped my cervix soften and shrink but it was still classed as posterior. By Friday i was given the option of a c-section or the drip as my cervix was 50/50 favourable. I was told that if i went for the drip at any point i could change my mind and opt for a c section. Im not going to lie the drip was brutal.. i had no intention of an epidural but ended up with one after gas and air and diamorphine didn’t touch the sides. Once it was in then it was much more manageable and luckily my cervix moved to allow a natural birth..my waters weren’t broken until they were happy with my cervix and I’d decided on the drip xx

Also to add my hospital were very good and It was all my decisions throughout and i was advised on all options and outcomes xx
