Slow weight gain

Any advice on painfully slow weight gain after a nearly 12% drop from birth weight at day 10? Back up to -7% now at day 19 but only gained 30g in the last 5 days. EBF - mostly at breast with 1 large pumped bottle at night and multiple small, top up bottles during the day as detailed in feeding plan from midwives. Feel incredibly guilty and as if I’m not doing right by baby but also don’t want to flip to formula without really giving BF a good go

Try not be too hard on yourself you’re trying your best for little one! Have you researched foods that make your milk fattier? Some examples-Nuts, fish, eggs, oats etc xx

We’ve had this issue during the first 3 weeks and unfortunately I don’t have any advice, but I absolutely know how you feel and I also felt the guilt as I really wanted to exclusively breastfeed. We tried everything, i.e. supplementing with expressed milk, checking latch, tongue tie, etc, and nothing worked. I was at my wits end and eventually started topping up with 40-50ml of formula after every feed. He regained his weight within a week and is now thriving. I don’t have any regrets because the only alternative option was at the cost of my mental health and potentially his health as he just wasn’t gaining, but I did go through a few days of feeling extreme guilt. I hope you manage to come to a solution that works for the both of you!

I’m going through something similar at the moment. My boy is now 6 weeks old and is 8oz over his birth weight. The health visitor is round every second day wanting to check his weight and to be honest she’s really stressing me out. All other areas of development are progressing well, he’s just slow to gain weight. I’m still EBF but trying to pump at least twice a day and give him those in between feeds as he always wants to feed.

Sending love, my first daughter is 12 now and was exclusively breast fed, she’s dropped to her birth weight at 3 months and was hospitalised 😔 Are you resting and eating well? I think this is where I went wrong and trying really hard to rest and eat well this time xx
