Question about the airplane bassinet

So my baby is on the taller side - he is 73cm (28.74 inches) at 7 months. In 1.5 months we will be on a red-eye transatlantic flight of 11 hours... What do you recommend - to get a bassinet (even though he's probably too tall for it, he does not sleep fully stretched out) or to get a non-front Row seat and have him sleep on our laps in a nursing pillow with the seta in front serving as a barrier for him not to fall forward? Not sure - pls share your experiences for long red eye (and not!) flights with an 6-9 months olds.

We haven't done our flight yet but the airline we are flying with made it crystal clear we can't bring anything with us I.e. bassinet etc. We always bring a pillow in hand luggage so will use rhat stretched across our laps for snoozes; I would just check what they let you bring

They have a rocker style crib (pictured) for taller babies. That's what I used for my LO at 4 months as he was too tall for the bassinet. It's worth asking the airline if they can provide this for you.

I would still get a bassinet! We have just flown from the UK to Australia with our 18 months old. She is in the 98 percentile for her height and she still fitted just about. It was an absolute lifesaver. Sending all the good flight vibes to you 🙌🏼🥰

When my daughter was 14 months we requested the basement, she never actually slept in it but it’s nice to have that seat with extra leg room. They can only give it to you if they can rearrange seats or if they have any at the moment. The first flight we were able to get it but on the way back we weren’t able to get it.

Always use it if it’s available! BA bassinets have a higher weight limit than others. My daughter used one at 18m! The skycot area has more legroom for you too which is a bonus but book it in advance.

Thank you so much everyone!!! Also, another question re lights and sounds. We flew transatlantic when he was two months and the sound was fine, however the light from that monitor showing the map (which was always on and bright bright blue) kept on shining in his eyes right above the bassinet. It was oh so annoying!
