@Fay yup. We've gone down the CMPA root, and it didn't make any difference
It's so hard on them isn't it. And on you. Our 7.5 month old has been going through eczema for the last couple of months. She's been on 3 lots of antibiotics, the first lot due to them thinking it was scarlet fever, then due to skin infections. We haven't had a definitive diagnosis yet but have been given emollient and creams to help manage it like eczema and now referred to paediatrics because it's so widespread. However, her development has also suffered. She was just about rolling over before it started and now she hates being on her tummy. She's also uncomfortable being picked up and scrunches like a newborn. Our HV was reassuring, so it may be worth speaking to them if you haven't already. We've been to A&E, out of hours and our own GP multiple times so far. Maybe see what dermatology say and go from there. But it's been my hardest time as a mum and I really feel where you're coming from 😔
@Danielle were already under so many people. As she's not putting weight on to the point, social services have been involved. As they thought it was us. Now they know it's not us. We're under infant feeding, peads, physio, dietitian, and now dermatology. We've tried CMPA things. Different milks. We've had all lotions and potions thrown at us. It's just deflating. I've spent an absolute fortune on creams. From cheap to premium brands as well as lots of prescribed
Poor baby and poor you xx. Hang in there, it will get better. My baby’s skin was at its worst at 6 months, huge staph infections on both cheeks. Teething and weaning caused big flares. We ended up having him allergy-tested to see what was triggering it and also having to use a steroid for 2 weeks, then Elidel protopic to heal it. Even tho we are v anti-steroids and vowed never to use them on our baby. It did finally clear the infection tho. Oral antibiotics often cause eczema flares. They kill the friendly gut bacteria. That means harmful bacteria and yeasts like candida can take over and cause inflammation. So it might take a while for her gut to recover (happy gut, happy skin). You could give her a probiotic and S. boulardii to help recover after the antibiotics?
Hi im so sorry that sounds very difficult and there really is such little information out there. We've not reached the end of our journey, but here are some things we've tried that have helped reduce his flare ups - extra size up clothing so it's loose, less detergent / extra wash, no food based creams etc., bf diet elimination eggs, oats, dairy, soy, water filter for bath (a big culprit), and probiotics for me and baby. Still trying different creams but hydromol oitment and la roche baume are working for us at the moment! Good luck its all so difficult and with the trial and error and watching them struggle x
I’m so sorry to hear that you are going through through this. You likely already tried this but what worked for my baby was breast milk straight on the acne, sore, cradle cap, you name it I put a dab of milk on it and it seemed to do the trick 😅
Have you ruled out a dairy allergy?
