Aptimal Pepti One

Hi, my 10 week old has been on Aptamil Pepti one 5 weeks now and has been doing well on it in terms of rash has disappeared popes more regular and less trapped wind, but now suddenly has started with struggling with her tummy again, constantly bringing legs up in pain and being really fussy with her bottles. Has anyone else has this? Any advice at all please.

We had the exact same thing happen with our little boy! He was completely settled on Pepti 1 then his allergy symptoms started to reappear after doing the milk re-challenge and he just never settled again on that formula. He was moved onto Neocate which is completely lactose free and the difference in him is unbelievable his eczema break out cleared in a few days and his tummy pain seemed to stop almost instantly after changing! I would speak to your GP and ask if you can trial a different formula to see if that is the issue

Thank you Chloe, I definitely still think she struggles with her tummy on this milk even though her other symptoms have stopped, her spots can sometimes reappear and then go, the past 24 hours she has also be crying when I have been giving her the bottle. I am going to see if the GP will let me trial the lactose free milk.

Bless her, the hydrolysed formula maybe just isn’t enough for her! I hope the GP gets you sorted out and she’s feeling better soon 🩷

I have literally just put a request in at the GP, fingers crossed 🤞🏻 xx

Sorry Chloe can I ask, do you put anything in to help with the taste of these bottles? As she really struggles to drink a bottle because of the taste.

Mine really struggled too but I was too scared to try anything 😭🤣 Thankfully he eventually accepted the taste of the Pepti one and took the Neocate straight away as that seems to smell more neutral! I’ve seen people saying they’ve used vanilla extract but I never looked into it xx

@Hollie it’s not lactose free milk you need, it’s amino acid based. Neocate or sma alfamino. There is another but I can’t remember what it’s called 🙈 It sounds like the hydrolysed milk did work to a certain extent but over time it hasn’t completely cleared symptoms. Most of the cmpa milks still contain cows milk proteins they are just extensively hydrolysed so most babies can take them. Amino acid based contains no milk proteins at all. The alfamino also doesn’t taste too bad compared to some of the others 😂

Thank you lauryn, I managed to get in at the doctors and they have prescribed the alfamino one, we have started it tonight, she really doesn’t like the taste of it but I am managing to get her to drink most of the bottle. So fingers crossed. Thank you ladies xx

Hi Chloe, can I ask how long it took for you to see a difference when you changed the milk? X

@Hollie Hi Hollie! It took around 5 days before we started seeing a difference, how did your little girl get on with it last night?x

Okay thank you, she was able to drink it but still struggled from about 0400 this morning. She has only really had 3 bottles of it so I need to give it time x

Yeah definitely stick with it! Hopefully you start to see some improvements over the next few days x

We had the exact same thing. Have you tried changing the teats? Xx
