Driving alone long (ish) distance

I’m thinking of making a trip to see friends best option definitely drive I say long distance Ish as it in the UK so the drive non-stop is around 3 1/2 hours obviously I would need to stop as I would have my nine month old with me. I’m not sure if I’m confident enough to drive that distance anybody got any advice for long journeys on your own or is it a really bad idea? Edit: Adding an extra question for those that drove on their own just you and baby how did it feel? We do long journeys as a family which is fine as one of you can be in the back to entertain or comfort little one on the journey how do you deal with this on your own?

I’m driving to Scotland from Essex tomorrow, with an 8 week old. Just make sure you have places to stop regularly. That shouldn’t be too bad.

@Lauren wow that’s an epic journey makes me feel like mine is definitely doable 😊

Oh definitely! We’re just going to take our time!

I’d say just split the journey in half, and have somewhere to stop inbetween - I drove an hour and half the other day with my 7 month old and she just slept the whole way x

I think the most up to date recommended amount of time for a baby over six months to be in car seat is 90 mins so i would make sure you leave plenty of time to make stops. We did a 2 hour drive recently and planned it so we could have a stop and nappy change, and then his wake window would be done so he would sleep for majority of the rest of the way there. On the way back we stopped half way and did his wake window at the park, went for a walk and picked up some food so he slept again as our little one hates the car!

Mine sleeps so well in the car so this would be a breeze for me. I would probs stop at the 1.5 hour mark get out stretch your legs change a nappy get a snack for around 30 mins and then go again x
