Roseola or Measles?

Roseola or measles? My little one has come up in a rash after having an up and down temperature for the last few days. The rash is light pink and covers the back and front. Little bit on his face too. It doesn’t seem to be itchy. He’s a little off his food and the fever has now gone.

Have you tried pressing a glass up against it? I think if the rash disappears when you do this then the advise is to go to your GP and if it doesn’t to take baby to A&E.

Could also be a heat rash

We recently had this dilemma - main differences are timing and how the rash spreads. If fever breaks just as rash gets going it’s likely roseola, if peak fever with peak rash it could be measles. Also Roseola tends to start on torso and spreads outwards, measles starts on head and spreads down. Could also be generic viral rash - we were told to go to docs if concerned about dehydration and check rash passes glass test.

To be honest it started on his back and front and is spreading from there - nothing on his face yet. He’s had temp for last few days and now temp is gone just as rash appeared. He’s not itching it. Yes I’ve done the glass test and it disappears.

Doesn’t sound like measles then - hopefully just a virus that’s on its way out 🙂👍 keep an eye on temp/nappies but hopefully he’s through the worst of it!

@Katie I think then if he doesn’t seam bothered by it then just monitor it and if it gets worse then take him to GP if you haven’t already 🤷‍♀️
