Progesterone in Oil

Does anyone else have a substantial amount of pain after doing the progesterone in Oil shot? I was instructed to do it in my butt and it hurts quite a bit after. It sort of feels like someone punched me really hard. Has anyone experienced this and have any suggestions? I'm worried I'm doing something wrong.

They are awful. I’ve been on them for 4+ weeks 😫. Here’s what I have learned that helps: 1) if you can get the progesterone in ethyl Olate (sp?) that is one of the thinnest oils and should go in a lot easier than sesame oil. 2) warm the oil up under your armpit for a bit before you fill up your syringe 3) make sure you pump the syringe up and down a few times before you draw the medication so it will push smoothly. Sometimes new syringes can sort of stick when pushing. 4) rotate the needle 1/4 turn every 1/4 of the total injection. There is a little tip on the needle that causes the liquid to go out in one direction. Rotating it more evenly disperses it. 5) massage the injection site after to try and break up the oil. This will help avoid knots. Good luck! I know they aren’t easy. My right butt/hip is now numb from them which is bad but also good. 😅

Thank you SO much for all the tips!!! I am going to try these all!!

Of course! I was struggling the first couple of weeks. Hang in there!

I always iced my bum before the shot. After a few weeks you get used to it. I had to do PIO for 7wks for each of my kiddos.

In the middle of my second week of it now, my bum has little blue bruises all over it!

I take mine as a tablet, every night starting from 2DPO , inserted into the vagina with clean fingers
