Feeding

Any references for making your own baby food? Or brands that you recommend? I’m 4.5m LO isn’t ready yet. I’m just trying to plan ahead. What did you feed baby first?

my current plan is to introduce more veggies first, obviously i'll give my baby fruits too, but babies will eat whatever tastes the best and if you don't give them the veggie option prior to the fruit option it'll be harder to get them to take the veg. i also plan on mixing breast milk with whatever i purée so it's got a somewhat familiar taste, i've heard you can also use the babies formula to mix with whatever you purée as well. i got a baby nutribullet to make my own purées and i got a squeeze pouch filler system that you can put the babies food into a little pouch and i got extra storage containers for the fridge and freezer just incase. that's just the plan anyway, i have no idea what's actually going to happen when the time comes though

Hi Cynthia, I started with my LO at 6.5m. He's almost 9m now. Solid Starts has a great app/IG/website. I mostly give my baby what we eat or variations of it so we aren't making baby food, specifically especially since at the beginning they really eat so little of it. I also bought baby cereal that's iron fortified and I make it with breastmilk or water. I go for organic non-gmo brands. Easy to find at whole foods or moms. Feel free to message me if you wanna chat more :)

That makes sense. I have a food processing system too. I hadn’t thought about the purée pouches.

Like Alex said, definitely do veggies first. Solid starts is a great app to know when you can give certain food and how to prepare them. For the first few month its more chewing practice and getting the feel for eating, so don't be surprised if they dont swallow much. I just set aside some of what were having 😊 Ofcourse avoiding salt, and honey.
