Consider keeping hats off your newborn!

As a midwife challenged me on my advice to keep hats of newborn babies straight after birth, I figured a more in-depth post on the reasons and EVIDENCE for not putting one on was in order. Check the comments to see where the outdated and debunked myth that we lose most of our body heat from our heads comes from (good thing those soldiers weren’t pantless or we’d be insisting we lose all our body heat from our arses!), how ineffective hats are at regulating body temperature, and why being able to smell your newborn baby’s head is so important!
