GBS and Antibiotics

Okay I’m due this Sunday and still on the fence about receiving IV antibiotics during labor. At the end of the day I want to be safe and not sorry. I am leaning towards getting them but it still scares me. I would love to hear your success stories of getting antibiotics during labor and having healthy babies…

Nothing negative can come from having the antibiotics. I hear a completely unmedicated and free moving labor and birth with my son and had to have the antibiotics. It was a much needed break as I had to be in the bed while they gave them to me, so I had time to rest while getting them. It’s definitely worth it especially for a healthy babe

It’s penicillin that they give you and it’s to prevent you going into septic shock. Nothing happen to baby from you being positive to GBS. I tested positive my first pregnancy and got the penicillin. It only burns when it enters your bloodstream. After that you’re good. Doesn’t have any side effects or anything. Tbh everything else they offer during labor like an epidural or pitocin is way more toxic and has serious risks and side effects compared to penicillin. It’s not much to worry about!
