RVH

Has anyone delivered at RVH recently?? I'm due in March and was wondering if they provided anything for moms and babys (peri bottle, pads, diapers, formula) I heard they are allowing 2 support people does anyone know if they are allowed to leave and come back at any point? And finally how long do they typically make you stay after giving birth if there are no issues with baby or mama

I’m not sure what they are now. But when I delivered in 2021 via c-section, we were there for 48h - from admittance to discharge. They provided one newborn diaper and some formula. But nothing for mom. Good luck, momma!

I just did January 17, they provided some pads but not very many so i brought my own. (i’m not sure if they provide more if you ask). They did provide a Peri Bottle. No diapers except for the first one they put on the baby so I would bring your own. I’m unsure about formula as I didn’t use any. Support people are allowed to leave and come back yes. They made me stay for 24 hours as they have to do tests on both you and baby and we were both healthy so i’m assuming you will have to stay? Not 100% sure though if you ask to leave.

I haven’t delivered in a couple years but in March 2021 they gave me a peri bottle and I brought my own Silhouette adult diapers cause they’re comfier. They do not provide diapers aside from the first one and they did have formula samples there! We had no complications and delivered at 2pm on Sunday, and I was discharged at 5pm on Monday. Overall great experience and the staff were awesome.

I delivered in December although I was under midwife care so I didn’t get admitted. It was 2 support people and they can come and go as you please. I know they have formula but they prefer you have your own

I delivered in November. Depends if you’re in a shared room or private if spouse (etc) can stay or not. HIGHLY recommend the Frida Mom peri bottle. It’s soooo much easier to use. Hospital gives you one but it doesn’t have the funky angled sprayer. I think they keep you for 24 hours to do the tests on baby. If they don’t have signs of jaundice then you get to leave I believe. But if their levels are higher or you have stuff wrong then obviously want to keep you.

Also, if you get a cute little blonde pregnant nurse post delivery, that’s my sister in law and she’s an absolute sweet heart!

Delivered in Jan 16th! They will provide your pads, diapers if ever you forgot but better bring your own, peri bottle and formula but bring your own in case. The nurses in the birthing unit are awesome! My husband and I stayed for 24hrs since both baby and I are healthy. If you have kids they are not allowed to go in to visit in case.. Good luck

I did 6 weeks ago and all I want to say is I will never go back there for ANYTHING regarding me OR my son. The neonatologist is a horrible man.

I went to collingwood instead. Rvh said only allowed one support person, cwood 2. I also found the staff was much more kind and patient during appointment etc (ftm so I needed that patience). The possibility of getting a private room is more in cwood than rvh too. But my OB is in cwood so I had a little bias view but I did look into both

The baby doc was not great at the time I delivered (December) so idk if it’s still the lady or not tho.

@Grace not even a 10-year old kid?

@Naz They unfortunately don’t allow anyone under the age of 16 in the room. That’s what the nurses told me when I was there a few weeks ago.

That’s sad! We have no one to leave our 10-yr daughter with. Thanks for letting me know.

@Naz yes unfortunately coz of the virus goin around kids..

Thank you everyone!!

Back in 2021 they gave me some pads (but not many), a pair of disposable underwear and a peri bottle, and formula bc my milk supply was so low. There were also some diapers and soothers given to us, but I think you’re really supposed to bring your own

When I was at rvh in august we were allowed two and you can come and go! They did provide so much stuff for me when I was there I didn’t even use my own stuff. 24 hours you have to stay. They said to me once the blood work came back and everything is all good. I gave birth at 11:11 the next day I left around 1pm since we were waiting for blood work. Now if it c sections it’s 48
