Amazing, thanks I'll check it out!
Hi Melissa, I’m currently in my bed on the Gwillim ward at St George’s following my c-section this afternoon :) Husband can stay with you though the chairs/beds they’re given aren’t v comfortable. My husband is staying with us as it’s v nerve wracking being on your own directly after giving birth (also you can’t reach in to get baby out of cot so need assistance whenever they wake up). But to each their own. I think duration is all about how you/baby recover. Apparently 50% of mums will go home the following day but that requires a certain amount of criteria to be hit (pain management, both mum and baby being able to go to the loo post procedure for example). Obvs I’m in the middle of it right now so don’t know everything but happy to answer anything you might like to know the answer to that I do have some info for!
Thank you Amy! I checked out the Instagram page aswell which said he can stay, but if he does leave its between 10pm and 8am. We have a dog at home which is our first baby and don't have friends or family that could look after her over night and wondering if I'd manage with him going home the first night just before 10pm and then coming back the next morning. Do you think of he did go home that 1st night if I needed help the midwives would be able to help? Or should I look at alternatives for dog baby for 24 hour's?
Also congratulations mama! How are you feeling after the csection?
Hi Melissa, the midwives definitely could look after you but it would be much easier with your partner as every-time the baby cries or needs picking up you’ll be ringing the bell. All depends on how you’ll be feeling and how your baby is. We had a tough first night so I would’ve been a bit lost without him and I was the last elective c-section of the day so I hadn’t gotten out of bed etc. Thank you! She’s absolutely perfect and the c-section went v well, home yesterday and just navigating newborn life at the moment! Currently snuggling her while dad gets an hours sleep as we had a particularly big cry at a nappy change 😂🫣
Hi Amy! Thank so much for your invaluable advice, we have made arrangements for dog baby so my partner can stay atleast the first full day and night with me! How is baby and mama doing now? Hoping your recovery is going well and your in the swing of things with newborn life?
Hi! I’m having my baby at St G’s too. If you check out @stgmaternity on Instagram they have a pinned post that says your partner can stay all day and night with you on the postnatal (Gwillim) ward 👍🏼 I’m afraid I’m not sure how long you’ll need to stay though.
