Husband being deployed

My husband is due to be deployed in a week and a half ish. I’ll be 35(ish) weeks pregnant and I’m terrified about going into labour and him not being here. It’s a 6 month deployment but they’ve agreed to flying him back a week before my due date, I’m just worried this won’t happen or I’ll go into labour earlier (both our first baby so hopefully late!) but I don’t want to do it alone or have him miss out. My family is 2.5 hours away also. The rest of the deployment will be hard with a newborn but I’ll be busy and mind will be occupied so less worried about this, more the birth. Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

My husband is away currently, I am 32 weeks, he is due back when I am 34-35. He should be able to give you an emergency phone number which you can use to bring him home quickly if something were to change

If all fails, I found going to the army welfare service for help and support. 🙂

Jccc it x

@Josie JCCC doesn’t cover pregnancy/ birth unless there’s an emergency situation and/or mum or baby are seriously ill

Thank you all - I know about the emergency number to bring him back etc just worried if he doesn’t get back in time, but it will be what it is I suppose!

Omg I could have written this post! My husband is also deploying for 6 months at my 36 week point. He has been told he can come back and have paternity leave and there may even be an option for him to take leave before so he can definitely be there for the birth, but don’t think that’s going to work in reality because there’s no way of predicting when the baby will be born. I’m currently 28 weeks, feel free to message me so we can provide support to each other xx

So reassuring to know people are in / have been in the same situation - it definitely makes an already stressful situation even worse haha! Can you opt to be induced early? I wasn’t sure if this was something you could request if no medical reason etc. definitely something to have a chat about!! And thank you Laura that would be lovely, hopefully we can all support each other through it and all have happy and healthy babies xx
