Confused

Not sure if the response I received was insensitive stupid or offensive. A former colleague of mine said my premature baby wouldn’t recognize me because I didn’t carry her the whole 9 months (she an older woman with no children) since I had her early and it wasn’t enough time, and my daughter have to learn who I am, and that babies don’t have their vision until 6 months… so my daughter doesn’t really know how I look 😡 I really had to be the bigger person and correct her instead of getting upset and having a back and forth matchup. If anyone else experienced this I wonder what would happen?

Those are ridiculous assumptions, My baby was born extremely premature, and while he was in NICU, he recognized me. My suggestion is no need to correct her, the time will decide. she will get all her answers when you baby start recognizing you.

Wow, some people really have no clue do they! Of COURSE your baby will recognise you as his mama - yours will be the first face he remembers 😍 plus recognition is much more than sight, it’s smell, the sound of your voice, everything!! Don’t listen to her xx

That's some B.S. I have 23 weeker now, 34 weeks and still in Nicu. He has always recognised my voice, he is copes well with cares when done by me or my husband. He loves new cuddle cloths that have our scents. Your baby will always know you mumma don't be discouraged x

@san yes it’s ridiculous that someone would say that, and don’t have enough understanding of the difference between premature babies and full term babies. Either way your baby recognizes you from the start in utero. Agree no need to waste my time or always correcting her

@Connie agree with you and I really couldn’t believe she was serious about the statements she made. No matter if she don’t have children it’s plain common sense to know a baby will recognize their mother automatically

@Kayy my baby was born 23 weeks too and agree she does recognize me, and her father, some people really don’t understand what it’s like to have a premature baby and can be so insensitive at times. Nice how you said your baby loves new cuddle clothes that have your both scents. I thought about doing something like that as well

That is some BS. My daughter was born at 26 weeks, and we stayed 3 months in the NICU. She knew my voice and scent. Crazy how some people don't have a clue. Hope you and baby are enjoying the sound of the rain today

@Brenda exactly it’s crazy how some people really don’t know or just inconsiderate. Babies do know right from the start of their journey in utero
