I can't recommend The Lunar Chronicles enough! First book is Cinder. There's romance, action, a little bit of fantasy (some people have mind control powers), adventure, and some sad parts too. It's loosely based on fairy tale characters (Cinder = Cinderella, Scarlet = Red Riding Hood, Cress = Rapunzel, Winter = Snow White), but with a twist. So good! I'm actually re-reading it again right now.
I enjoyed reading the Scythe series by Neal Shusterman. Definitely YA/fantasy
Anything by Tamora Pierce. Some tends towards Juvenile fiction, but some of it is def YA. The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco.
Gregor the Overlander series is really good too. Not much in the way of romance, but a very interesting world with talking animals. Written by the same lady that wrote the Hunger Games.
I like the six of crows duology and I agree with @Dana love the lunar chronicles! I also like “the bear and the nightingale”
Not sure if this quite fits the criteria but I have to recommend the Mirror Visitor quartet by Christelle Dabos if you’re looking for world building. It’s like whimsical and pretty unique I thought. Has a tiny bit of romance but not really. Honestly the world building kept me so interested that I didn’t care about romance tbh. It’s my favorite series of all time
@Jisela came here to recommend this!!
I love Rick Riordan universe. Percy Jackson is the most famous but my favourite is Magnus Chase (Norse mythology)
@Adrienne such a good series!
Holly Black Cruel Prince series! I also agree with Crave series by Tracy Wolff

@Nicole six of crows is the best!!! Reading the shadow and bone series now. I went backwards. lol
Children of blood and bone hits all your requirements, I believe. It's been a minute since I read it though.
