Recurrent thrush

Hi!! Has anyone really suffered from thrush since being pregnant? I have been prescribed pessaries and internal creams but then been told not to use the applicator. šŸ˜© but I feel these need to be inserted properly in order to clear? Anyone else had this or used an applicator??

Got it twice in the first trimester šŸ˜’ used the applicator both times and no problems, it cleared it up straight away. It was prescribed by the doctor and she didnā€™t not tell me to use the applicatorā€¦ or the pharmacist who gave it me and knew I was pregnant so unsure why you would be told this x

I am facing this and itā€™s just so annoying !! 3 times already been treated until 2nd trimester

Constant and itā€™s driving me mad

Why carnt you use the inserter? I used it x

Yeah never had this with other pregnancies very annoying

I had it in the first trimester, was told by gp not to use applicator , but when went to pharmacist and mentioned this she said she had pregnant women come for 20 years and always advised to use applicator no issues, so i used it and no issues, thrush went in 4 days.

I have got thrush ATM and was prescribed the pessaries x 7. Which she also said not to use the applicator for. It is a bit annoying as I feel like they are not up high enough and some of it leaks out. However Iā€™m in day five of them now and the thrush definitely seems to have gone x

I had suffered thrust from day 1 up until about 5 months, I had been using the cream over and over and the longest it would go is a few days, a week or two max and then be back again over and over again! Eventually I bought the internal cream (not external one) and it was in a little tube applicator which I made sure to not put too far up (the worry is hitting the cervix) and there was so much cream in the applicator I didnā€™t need to insert it far for the cream to reach the top! I have not had thrush since then! The cream I think was just sorting the external irritation but not the thrush from the inside reinfecting the outside causing a vicious cycle! I feel stupid for not using it earlier on as itā€™s been an uncomfortable 5 ish months! (Almost 7 months now)

Hi @Shaynie what cream was that. Doctors prescribed me pessaries for 7 days. Did you buy the cream yourself or was it prescribed. Thank you

@Puj it was the standard canesten one, just like the pessaries but it comes in a cream form also.. a combi pack so comes with external cream and internal cream. I bought it off of Amazon as itā€™s hard getting a GP appt and the last I contacted they just gave me external cream with no mention of anything else! So I went and done a lot of research and they say you can have pessaries and the rest so bought the cream there as I donā€™t know if itā€™s available in pharmacies to buy.

Thatā€™s good, I will try to find it too. If the doctors are ok with the internal cream too, I believe itā€™s a good option than pessary

Yeah I didnā€™t want to do the pessary during pregnancy simply because I didnā€™t want it falling out because I didnā€™t put it in high enoughšŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø I used this just before going to sleep so less came out every time I needed to go toilet and I was surprised with how much less mess there was afterwards! I havenā€™t needed to use the external cream more than once at that time as the internal fully sorted the issue. Hopefully you can find it because it was a nightmare before I tried it out.
