Ultrasound dating ahead

Hi everyone, I am 28 weeks + 2 pregnant and had a growth scan today. They took leg, stomach and head measurements. The leg measurement dated the baby at 30 + 6 😳 (his dad is 6ft 4 so not a complete surprise that he has long legs), and the head and stomach measurements dated him at around 29 + 5 I was just wondering if, for people who were dated a week or two ahead on an ultrasound, did your baby come earlier than your due date? What does measuring ahead mean if anything? Thanks x

Measuring ahead doesn’t mean baby will come earlier , just means they’re bigger than what they expect at the time :) xxx

What Sophie said. All babies are different shapes and sizes and they will come when they come lol 😂 x

Im 34 weeks, and she has really long legs too as my husband is also 6ft 4😅😜

I measured ahead and had baby 40+6. He was 9lb1. Scans are just estimates based on averages so I wouldn't get too hung up on it. My baby was also very long and leg measurement put my EDD nearly 4 weeks early 😂

I’ve been told before my baby was born that she is 1 week ahead by first ultrasound her due date was 28th July but after couple weeks I went for private scan and they told me that her due date is 21st of July now and told she is going to have long legs and will be quite big baby, she was born on 15th via the induction but wasn’t big at all and didn’t had a long legs since that I won’t trust the scan anymore 😂x x

They are just checking that baby is growing all their limbs fine for the stage you’re at. It’s no indication that they’ll be born earlier or later. Babies heads are bigger anyway. There was only a few days in it for me but LG was born at 41+1.

Thanks all, just wishful thinking that he may arrive sooner naturally - but I was also worried because I don't want them to use this as a reason for induction. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experiences 😊
