Hospital help!

Hi everyone! I am under Bolton hospital at the moment but saw my midwife last week who let me know that the only birthing options at the moment are delivery suite or if I want midwife led, which I did then a home birth. It’s my first so a home birth feels risky 😂 we are Salford based so I’m just wondering if anyone has any reviews on st Mary’s birthing unit or recommendations of what to do/where to change to really… it’s a shame as I love my midwife but she rarely goes into the hospital she said Thank you xx

St Mary’s is supposed to be one of the best. My matron recommended there to me as an option when I looked at moving. Also Whythenshaw is also supposed to be amazing x

Hey girl check out Tameside Acorn Birth Centre. I’m opting for there hopefully, they have a walkthrough video on youtube. I’ve heard great things about St Mary’s too, both there and Tameside are the top 2 rated in greater manchester xx

Hey what other options were you looking for? This is my first baby and I’ve no idea what other options there are haha

I had my little girl at north Manchester and we were in a birthing suite it’s pretty nice there

@Charlotte I just wanted Midwife led to start off with if I was low risk, so not straight into hospital. Bolton used to have ingleside which is a stand alone or the attached birthing suite to the hospital but both are closed 🙁 I feel like they might be a bit more chilled but to be fair it’s my first so have no clue 😂😂

I can’t comment on the birthing suite as I had a section but I couldn’t recommend at Mary’s more. I moved my care from Bolton mid pregnancy due to having so many issues and concerns and st Mary’s were amazing throughout and with the birth and stay afterwards x

I had both my babies at St Marys and wythenshawe. Both are fab! I didn’t know this at the time but St Marys doesn’t have a birthing suite, it’s only delivery. So if you want it as close to a home birth as possible, which I did with my second, go Wythenshawe. ❤️

As lauren said no birthing unit at st mary's its delivery suite only and focused more on high risk patients. Wythenshawe have a birthing suite thats midwife led which is where id decided to go as am wanting water birth too but im now high risk so just gonna stixk to st marys xx

They are absolutely fab at st marys though! Ive had 2 stays now and staff are lovely! X

I had planned for wythenshaw Midwife led unit but wanted stronger meds so never made it there 🤣🙈 x

Iv used North Manchester and plan on using it again for this baby at the blue bell birthing centre

I’m planning a homebirth with my first! It’s no more risky than a Midwife led unit - maybe talk to your midwife about it and do some research 😊

If it’s something that’s crossed your mind more than once then definitely look more into home birthing, I’m salford based and the midwifes I had for my home birth were absolutely amazing, I felt so safe in there care. It was with my first aswell and I was low risk. Do some research about it all and see if it’s a option for you 😊 x

I had my first child at Bolton, but with this baby I’m having it at St Mary’s because Bolton was so bad with communication and I never felt comfortable there x
