Idk what to do (Breastfeeding)

So I’ve been breastfeeding since my baby was born I do bottled pumped milk at night so I can have a break and I just pump while my husband feeds her but to be real I kind of hate everything to do with it. I’m constantly drained and dread the next time she’ll need to eat. I already had some bad depression before I was pregnant and smoking 🍃 helped and taking my medication for adhd helped but now with breastfeeding I can’t do most of what makes me happy and sane. I also vape nicotine currently and I feel like my milk is doing more harm then good anyways. I bought formula today (still haven’t used it) to try and make it so she likes bottles more then just wanting me but I feel terrible about stopping giving her moms milk so early (she’s 8 weeks) I really wanted to make it to at least 4 months but I’m already a young mom and I’m tired of being overweight and sad all the time. I haven’t been able to loose any weight and I still have 30 pounds of baby weight still on me. I just want to be me again. Anyone else go through something like this?

You're doing great mama. Fed is best and baby needs a happy mommy 🩷

Fed and healthy is always best. If breast feeding isn't right for you and your baby, formula is ok. Taking care of yourself (physically and mentally) makes taking care of her better and easier! A concern you'll want to think of weaning her from breast feeding is she may go through nicotine withdrawal. If vaping is something you want to continue doing, this may be the best option for her. Expect a fussy baby while her mind and body adapt. I went through a lot of guilt having to give up breast feeding with my first due to low supply, but found myself utterly relieved after. Both from the mental stress and not feeling so tied down while also trying to work full time.

I think being able to take your medication should be more important than getting your babe breast milk hun. If doing formula makes you more whole again than it shouldn't be a tough choice. ❤️

There's no finish line you need to get to, things change! Breastfeeding for 8 weeks is incredible! It seems like switching to or supplementing with formula is a great option for you and your family at this time.

Smoking and breast feeding can give your baby belly issues, so formula may help if she's experiencing any of that. And really, the first 6-8 weeks are the crucial weeks for breast feeding. You're past that, if it is miserable for you, just feed formula. As long and they're fed, that's what matters. A happy mom with a baby who drinks formula is far better than a miserable mom who is EBF.
