Small Femur

I had a 34 week growth scan.. Baby boy weighs 4 pounds 12 oz and is only in the 15th percentile. His femur is in the 3rd percentile and im worried. Any one know why is measures so small? Any one else’s baby like this? Im just scared and concerned! I’ll love him either way❤️

My baby has both small arms and legs (<5%). MFM did an analysis and determined she is between 1.75-2.5 standard deviations from the mean, which they said likely just means she's just on the shorter side (which makes sense since my whole family is short). They said that would expect to see >3-4 standard deviations for a higher risk of skeletal dysplasia, so they're not concerned. I would ask whoever handles your ultrasounds and they can probably give you an idea of what the measurements could indicate (if anything).

@JL thank you!!!

My baby is measuring at the 7th percentile on average. The doctors say she is likely just a small baby. She is monitored weekly. The percentile changes each time. If you are above the 10th percentile or below 90th, you should be okay.

thank you! @Melissa May i ask how far along? And how much does ur little babe weigh??

Girl I’m in the same boat and stressing she only 3 pounds 6oz and that was on the 20th go back the 19 to see if she grown more

@Sheyenne i go back in 4 weeks for another growth scan😩 hoping our little babes gain some weight and come out perfectly healthy❤️

@Macy girl me to! I have a toddler at home so it worries me with her. I don’t leave her and she doesn’t ever leave me but maybe 2 times since she been born!

My son (who is 9) measured very small (femur). I was very afraid too. He is healthy and wonderful 🥰🥰🥰 I’m so sorry you are going through that! It’s so hard.

@Kaya im glad i’m not the only one who has experienced this❤️ it definitely is hard! Thank you for your response❤️

My 33 week scan baby was weighing 4lbs 4oz. I'm 35+3 today. They told me she was in the 10th percentile. Before that she was in the 8th, she also has a small femur. The femur is because I'm super short about 5'1 and the dad is 5'8. They aren't worried at all. Some babies are just born with a lower birth weight. But as long as they say baby is healthy I wouldn't worry.

My baby at 37 weeks was 5 pound 12oz… ur baby has lots of time to catch up

@Macy my girl weighted 4lbs at 34 weeks. I try to eat healthy but I feel like the only one gaining weight is me lol

@Melissa girl same here!!! Lol the struggle! I feel like babies just weigh what they wanna weigh😩
