I cant advice not doing them, they aren't pleasant and I hated doing them but I looked in the box and counted down. Definitely speak to someone about the risks of not doing them Maybe just keep the compression socks on day and night?.
Yes c section puts you at higher risk of a blood clot as well as other factors depending on the person. I work in healthcare and the pain of them is nothing compared to the implications of having a blood clot 😩 I used to be terrified of injections but managed to get used to them during pregnancy. Have you got someone who can do them for you so it’s quicker? I found that it was more painful when I was slow with them x
Could you do them when you wake up get it over and done with so you’re not worrying all day
I didn't need them after my planned section. They just weren't recommended to me. I wonder why some have it and others don't
I'm exactly the same, really struggling with them but am counting down, I have 3.5 weeks left 😭
I would recommend sticking to it. I had to take them from 28 weeks and it’s not the most pleasant thing. I am needle phobic so I’m always very anxious when my partner gives me the injection. My midwife recommended wiggling your toes or coughing through it as your brain can only process one thing at a time! I get mine injected in the thighs and my partner makes sure he grabs a good amount of skin; he injects the pinched area - still hurts but nowhere as bad if you don’t pinch the skin. I had a blood clot scare a few weeks ago and whilst waiting for the VQ scan I had to have treatment dose(1.5mls) instead of the preventive dose which is between 0.2mls and 0.6mls(depending on weight). The higher dose is extremely painful and stings so much. Thankfully I didn’t have a clot but then continued on a lower dose. People say you get used to it and end up not feeling it after a while! Goodluck x
Have you tried doing the injections in different places? We worked out that I couldn’t feel them at all if they were done in the inch or two above my scar. I think others have done them on their legs or elsewhere where it is less painful
I’d definitely seek medical advice before stopping them. They may be able to offer an alternative blood thinner to help? On a personal note I’d really recommend continuing with them. They’re super unpleasant and I stopped after 2 weeks (out of 6) as I was mobile and thought it wouldn’t matter. I ended up in hospital with suspected pulmonary embolism/DVT. Luckily everything was fine but they stressed how important the jabs were. If I had to do them in future I’d religiously stick to them!
Before these shots people used to die at huge rates due to blood clots. They’re definitely necessary. However, why not take them first thing in the morning so that you don’t think about them all day? Even better, do you have someone who can give them to you?
I stopped mine after a few weeks. They only gave me such a long course of them due to having to be on them with covid during my last trimester. The midwife said usually they wouldn’t prescribe so many so I decided to stop early and not tell them. I did monitor myself though and if I had felt any symptoms of clotting I’d have seen a doctor asap obviously. I was also extremely active after my c-section and still wore the compression socks at night x
It's probably worth speaking to your medical team to see what's best for you. I found the injections difficult but counted them down.
